Who is Race2bhuman?
Well, right now, it's just you and me, so let me start by telling you a little about me. I am a middle-aged white woman. I am Jew-ish, more culturally aligned than religious. I grew up in a hyper white dominant culture in the suburbs of Long Island, New York. I was raised by my nanny, a beautiful Black woman, who became everything I knew that was love.
I have gone through the better part of my life without ever thinking about my white privilege, but as I continue to learn and grow, I recognize both how I have benefitted from it, how it has protected me from having to understand what it means to navigate the world as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and from the ways in which I have unintentionally caused harm.
And though through my work in service of educational equity, I am only just beginning to understand the largess of my complicit role in arguably one of the most complex social systems of the last few centuries, I am here. I am a person who believes in love and in justice. And I am ready to learn. I am ready to be heartbroken. I am ready to make mistakes and continue to grow. I am ready to be a learner, and not a knower. I am ready to become a 'good ancestor' for those I love that will come after I'm gone. I am ready to do the work. If you are ready too, I hope you join me on the journey to know better and do better, and I hope to be inspired by your journey too.

with love,
Cindy
